Modular Video Processor RGB VMG

 

Modular station RGB VMG is a flexible and scalable solution providing the telecommunication service operators with opportunity of accelerated development and increased profitability of providing the IPTV services. With use of RGB VMG, operators can provide the competitive digital television services (MPEG-2 and MPEG-4/H.264, standard and high definition).

A lot of telecommunication operators have switched to broadcast standard MPEG-4 – for better use of bandwidth resource. RGB VMG enables a smooth transition (due to full support of both MPEG-2 and MPEG-4). For delivery of video content to subscriber units of different standards, possibility of MPEG-2/MPEG-4 (and vice versa) re-encoding is assumed. With advanced video processing features (transcoding, speed change, statistical multiplexing), telecom operators can significantly extend the subscriber base and utilize the network resources more efficiently.

Use of advanced ad-break features will enable a smooth transition to next-generation advertising solutions on provision of centralized and targeted advertising.

RGB VMG is designed for telecom service providers, whose priority is low cost and high efficiency of channel aggregation. Significant cheapening of aggregation is achieved due to use of VIA (Video Intelligence Architecture) – to handle much more flows than equipment of competing manufacturers.

RGB VMG can be used to handle both video on demand and broadcast video (from different sources, in different formats/resolutions and from different multiplex groups, via ASI and 10/1 GigE interfaces). RGB VMG station can ensure the real-time video conversion to types suitable for transmission over various communication lines (wired, wireless, with different bandwidth) and to subscriber units supporting different standards of video compression.

RGB VMG is built on the basis of strong core (to process the MPEG-2 and MPEG-4/H.264 video formats) – with tools for work with multicasts and unicasts, which ensures the implementation of advanced features (grouping of channels, re-multiplexing, transcoding, change in flow rate, and QoS).

Ample opportunities of transcoding and transrating allow the operators to transmit the channels from various sources and to a lot of subscribers, who might otherwise be left without servicing – due to possible restrictions on channel throughput or capacity of subscriber receivers.
